The Student Parliament of International Burch University, in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Transfusion, is organizing a blood drive on Tuesday, March 6 for staff and students of International Burch University.
We invite all staff and students of International Burch University to give blood and save a life on Tuesday, March 6 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
By donating less than half a liter of blood (which is approximately 10% of your total blood supply and which regenerates in a matter of hours), you can save three people’s lives. In laboratories, blood is separated into red blood cells, platelets and plasma. Each of these components is needed by the human body for various functions, the absence of which can lead to death.
The importance of blood donation lies not so much in the necessity of blood to the human organism, but rather the fact that blood cannot be synthetically manufactured but only organically produced by the body. In other words, if people don’t donate blood, other people can’t get blood and will most probably die.
According to statistics, one in 10 people will need blood at one time or another during their life. In order words, you have a 10% chance of needing someone else’s blood between now and when you die.
So, if you want blood to be waiting for you tomorrow (if) when you need it, do the right thing now and donate blood because someone else needs it now.
For reminder’s sake, staff and students can register for an appointment to donate blood online or in the University Lobby on Monday, March 5. In addition, students who decide to donate blood will be freed from attending the lecture when they’re donating blood.
So, there’s no reason for you to not donate blood on Tuesday, March 6. See you then.
